In this article, we're going to talk a bit more about Nestables' gameplay. Nestables is an upcoming crypto collectible where you'll be able to breed Cubes, collect resources, build nests and interact with other players.
It's All About the Resources
Gathering resources will be vital in Nestables. Specifically, you’ll use them to keep your Cubes alive, build and decorate nests, and even design custom creations by using the building editor.
In the beta version of the game, you'll be able to gather 3 types of resources; ore, wood, and corn. Wood and ore will be used for buildings, while corn will be used for feeding your cubes. In the later stages of the game, you'll be able to collect other types of resources and design more complex and unique creations.
Understandably, more complex creations and buildings will require more resources. It's also worth noting that you'll be able to obtain creations from the Nestables marketplace, for free or for a fee. Similarly, you yourself will be able to place items on the marketplace and price them however you want.
Resources gathering will cost time and energy. Specifically, tasking your Cubes with gathering resources will eventually make them tired, bored or even depressed, which is why you'll have to manage your resource production with care. Also, not all Cubes will be efficient at everything. While one Cube might good at mining ore, others might not be. And this brings us to another important aspect of the game; researching.
You can use research to make your Cubes more efficient at something. For example, let's imagine you have a Cube that can mine 10 ore per hour. But, if you task that Cube with researching ore mining it will eventually become better at that specific task and mine more ore per hour. The same can be done for farming, wood chopping, exploring, and so on.
Researching will take time, which is why you'll have to set your priorities straight when you start the game. Also, keep in mind that the smarter your Cubes become, the more time it will take for them to reach the next level of research.
Keeping Them Happy
Like humans, Cubes need rest, leisure and companions to stay happy. To keep your Cubes alive and productive, you'll need to keep an eye on their Happiness Rating.
Happiness will be positively or negatively affected by various things, including:
- Diet - feeding your Cubes with enough quality food will make them happier
- Fatigue - providing your Cubes with enough sleep will also make them happy
- Boredom - your Cubes will become bored if they do the same tasks for an extended period of time
- Space - the more Cubes you have, the more space they'll need to stay happy
- Hygiene - clean Cubes are happy cubes
- Social - play time and interaction with other Cubes will keep your Cubes happy
