With Malta Blockchain Summit just around the corner, speakers, guests and Blockchain Hackathon participants from all around the world are packing their bags and heading to ‘blockchain island’. The summit will last 4 days (31st October - 3rd November) and aims to achieve one goal: to showcase and discuss the groundbreaking potential of blockchain technology.

Why Malta?

It’s not a coincidence that Malta is one of the first countries in the world to develop a regulatory structure for distributed ledger technology (DLT.) As an island nation deprived of natural resources, Malta, more so than any other country, invested in its citizens.

Today, Malta is one of the leaders in financial, gaming and as of recently, blockchain industry. In his official Malta Blockchain Summit invitation, Joseph Muscat, the Prime Minister of Malta, said that this success is "the result of a collective effort and Malta’s willingness to implement new technologies."

However, to implement the DLT, the Maltese government understood that a transparent regulatory framework is needed to make this implementation successful.

Thus far, the Maltese government passed 3 acts, providing a legal basis for DLT, Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), digital currencies, etc. It is, therefore, no surprise that the leaders in mentioned ecosystems chose Malta to host the upcoming blockchain summit.

What Can We Expect From The Malta Blockchain Summit?

Aside from Malta's PM, we can expect many other notable guests to appear, including John McAfee, Jon Matonis, Eva Scornickova, Jonathan Galea. Sophia Robot, the world's first AI Citizen, will represent Artificial Intelligence.

The speakers will discuss many topics, including Malta's affinity towards blockchain, regulatory issues, transparency, privacy, and innovation. We can also expect discussions on how blockchain will impact the economy, government sovereignty and investing.

Discussions on consumer experience, education, marketing, and even Hollywood will also attract a lot of attention. And of course, the DGaming industry is well represented.

There are lots of DGaming businesses at the event, and there’s also an iGaming blockchain hackathon.

What Is A Blockchain Hackathon?

A blockchain hackathon is a unique event, where participants (individual or team) join forces to develop usable software. Generally, such events require that participants will develop a usable dApp. The participants will have equal resources to complete their projects, on the theme yet to be determined.

This event is an excellent opportunity for all participants to demonstrate their skills and make a name for themselves in the DLT world. Often, organizers set these events to find talented developers, designers, project managers, and so forth. The Blockchain Hackathon will occur on the 31st of October.
