Yesterday, Decentraland launched the first public release of their Builder. The Builder features user-friendly tools and allows users with no experience in coding or 3-D modeling to design and add 3D content to Decentraland.
On Decentraland's Builder
The Builder, which was in development for roughly 3 months is now finally up and running! It features everything one needs to start designing 3D environments, objects, and scenery for Decentraland's visual world.
Moreover, users who wish to use the Builder don't need to own any MANA or LAND to use it. You also don’t have to be a computer wiz or Pablo Picasso to use it, as the Builder features a user-friendly interface, as well as helpful tooltips and guides that’ll help you find your way around it.
How To Start Using The Builder?
To use Decentraland's drag-and-drop Builder, all you have to do is visit Builder's official webpage. Once you're there, you'll have two tabs at your disposal:
- Templates - You're able to select one of several offered templates to start building; 1x1 (16x16m), 2x2 (32x32), 2x3 (32x48), or custom template. When choosing the custom template, you can select up to 32 parcels.
- Projects - Here, you'll be able to see all your finished or in-work projects.
How Does It Work?
Once you’ve selected a template, Decentraland will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to use the Builder. By going through the instructions, you'll learn how to move objects, add new objects to your scene, rotate objects and camera, and so on.
Once you've finished your scenery, you'll be able to submit your content for Decentraland's Creator Contest. To those that don't know it yet, Decentraland is currently running a contest with a purpose of testing their Builder.
All participants have a chance of earning a share of 900,000 MANA and 50 LAND. You can learn more about Decentraland's Creator contest by reading the article we wrote on it.
What Does This Mean For Decentraland?
Decentraland's Builder allows everyone to develop 3D content and present it to other members of the community. The Builder is free and fun to use, and should further push Decentraland's goal of creating a fully transparent and decentralized virtual world.
In their official blog, Decentraland said, "Decentraland is a space for all of us - it is a world owned by its users, after all - and we want the Builder to enable the expression of everyone’s ideas, quickly."
If you're new to Decentraland and would like to put your creativity to test, join the contest! You can join it for free, have fun, explore Decentraland's content and potentially earn lucrative rewards.
